Verrus will build and operate next generation data centers that flexibly leverage its onsite infrastructure through the development of proprietary technology. Role:
Verrus is looking for candidates to serve as a Product Manager, reporting to the Head of Product. This is a full-time position, preferably based out of Verrus’ Mountain View, CA office.
In this role, you will be shaping the future of data centers by combining cutting-edge software innovations in control and optimization with electrical, mechanical, and building systems to deliver the most energy-efficient, flexible and sustainable data centers. Your ability to understand and articulate the needs of data center customers and utility partners, combined with your experience with APIs, system integrations and AI-driven optimizations will be key to success. You will be part of a dynamic and fast paced startup environment while building the most consequential data center foundations for modern-day technology.
Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Define and own the technology roadmap for Verrus’ data center offerings, specifically focusing on features that enable capacity maximization, flexibility, sustainability, and grid interactivity.
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for data center technical designs. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, architecture, construction, and operations to define scope and ensure successful product launches with minimal disruption..
- Software-Hardware Integration: Partner with the Engineering teams to translate technical capabilities (e.g., proprietary PowerFlow™ technology, behind-the-meter battery storage) into commercially viable product features and innovative solutions that span hardware and software systems.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key decisions. Facilitate effective communication between internal teams, external vendors, and clients to ensure alignment.
- Market Analysis & Customer Requirements: Gather and synthesize requirements from a range of customers (hyperscale and enterprise) and conduct market research on data center trends, energy regulation, and sustainability benchmarks to ensure Verrus remains the market defining leader.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize technical expertise in data center design, construction, and operations to assess project requirements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and propose effective solutions that comply with industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer), Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of product management or technical program management experience, specifically within the data center, cloud infrastructure, or energy sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical concepts such as power distribution, cooling systems, or API-driven infrastructure management and translate them into business value.
- Proficient in Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies, with experience using tools like Jira to implement and manage agile processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to customers, engineering teams, and executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer), Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with or at major hyperscalers or large-scale 3rd party data center providers.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML infrastructure requirements (e.g., GPU clusters, liquid cooling) and/or energy markets (e.g., Demand Response, PPA structures, grid interconnection).
- Passion for sustainability and familiarity with carbon reporting standards (Scope 1, 2, & 3 emissions) or green building certifications.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment where ambiguity is common and innovation is required.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $150,000-$175,000. Compensation is determined by multiple factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Salary is only one part of Verrus’ comprehensive compensation package, which also includes a discretionary bonus, equity, general health benefits and paid time off.
